The upcoming Free Changeable Art Exhibition features four artists exhibiting a range of paintings that invite you to go beyond the ordinary. The paintings speak to you from the artists inspiration captured from memory, nature, culture and life experience.
Barry Lester Johnson lives in Newcastle and held his first solo exhibition in Newcastle Art space in 2007. In 2010 Barry’s paintings were selected at Art Unlimited Dunedoo for exhibition at Fairview Art space in Mudgee. Barry uses colour-mixing techniques to intensify colours and to create lively greys. This exhibition includes abstract landscapes from memory or imagination.
Laxmi Duble’ was born in Goa, India and blends inspiration, imagination and creativity on canvas. At an early age Laxmi was inspired by nature and whitewashed Portuguese chapels. Having spent 5 years in Paris, Laxmi continues to be inspired by a range of impressionists with abstraction being a great driving force in her work.
Lisa Woolfe exhibits paintings from a series of paintings, drawings and prints based on photographs snapped from her car window during road trips around country NSW and places familiar to her. Lisa captures flashes of the landscape to create paintings constructed from visual and reference memory prompting the viewer to consider what lies ahead or beyond, preferring the location to be anywhere the viewer wants to imagine.
Lisa has been a finalist in numerous group exhibitions from 2001-2011, winning the 2008 Works on Paper Award Waverly Art Prize. Lisa has a Bachelor in Fine Arts and is an experienced educator and gallery assistant.
Mary Rafter from an early age loved expressing her creativity through painting. Mary creates abstract paintings drawing inspiration from the world around her, living by the sea and aerial photography of the earth. Using many colours and textures Mary encourages the viewer to explore visually and kinesthetically enticing viewers to touch the painting in order to further understand it.
This exhibition will be an uplifting experience not to be missed.
Held on Saturday, April 9, 10am - 3pm along with the well-loved North Sydney Market and live music at 220 Miller St. North Sydney, Civic Park.
